Hard, clay, now grass: Shelton becomes the season's second three-title man
Just a week after Roland Garros, the grass season crowned a new winner. In the Stuttgart final, Ben Shelton outlasted fellow American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to claim his first career grass-court title. He'd survived two match points to beat Lehecka in the semis — a hard-earned run from start to finish.
It was Shelton's third title of 2026. After Dallas (hard) and Munich (clay) earlier in the year, he became the second man this season — after Sinner — to win three titles, and the first American since Querrey in 2010 to win on hard, clay and grass in a single season. That trademark lefty serve is booming on ever-bigger stages.

Zhang Zhizhen stuns a former champion to reach a career-best grass QF
China's No. 1 Zhang Zhizhen broke through on the Dutch grass. He upset former champion Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(5), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals — a career-best grass-court result. There he fell 6-7(4), 3-6 to French veteran Adrian Mannarino, but his week left a strong impression.
With Zheng Qinwen resting and few Chinese players in the grass draws, Zhang's run gave Team China a flying start to the grass swing — and valuable confidence heading into Wimbledon.

Lucky loser Vekić wins Queen's in a fairytale week
Ranked just No. 76, Croatian veteran Donna Vekić lost in qualifying and only entered the main draw as a lucky loser — then ran all the way to the title. Against home favorite Emma Raducanu, she bageled the first set and saved multiple championship points before sealing it 7-6(6), winning her first-ever WTA 500 crown (and fifth title overall) 6-0, 7-6(6).
Majchrzak rallies past de Minaur for a maiden ATP title
Poland's Kamil Majchrzak came back to beat second seed and title favorite Alex de Minaur 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(5) in the 's-Hertogenbosch final, capturing his first ATP Tour title.
Fritz falls in the Stuttgart final, still chasing on grass
American Taylor Fritz lost the grass opener to Shelton. In strong form, he remains one of the men to watch on grass and heads to Halle next week to keep pushing.
From clay to grass: the green sprint begins
As Roland Garros champions Zverev and Andreeva switch to grass, Stuttgart, 's-Hertogenbosch and Queen's all wrapped this week. Next week the two ATP 500s — Queen's men's event and Halle — get underway, intensifying the pre-Wimbledon race.
